Advanced Game Summaries with Custom Goals

For every game, analytically minded coaches like to look at specific stats, and see if the team exceeded or fell short of certain goals. Hoopsalytics' Game Summaries let you isolate on specific stats to see how your team did, along with other cool visualizations like score and margin graphs.

For this team, we focus on creating more scoring opportunities by creating turnovers and getting more offensive rebounds, and making a good percentage of shots.

Here's an excerpt from one game, showing goals met in green and failures in red:

See Which Sets Are Working with Coaching Stats

The HMB team ran a series of set plays, and in a 6 game sample we can see which sets were the most effective.

The most accurate way to assess what's working is to look at "points per set outcome" (highlighted in red below). Each outcome number is video-linked to that set, so you can see video clips when a score or a turnover occurred.

And unlike other systems, we also track "no outcomes", where a set (or inbounds play) resulted in a reset. This paints the most accurate picture of how well a set is working. You can also do the same analysis for BLOB (baseline out-of-bounds) plays, transitions, and sideline plays.

You can see the analytics of the main offensive sets that HMB used in the example below:

These are just a few examples of how you can use Hoopsalytics to get more insights into your team and make better data-driven coaching decisions.
